Let Me Tell You About WordPress

WordPress is the most popular content management system with the largest number of users in the world, and here’s why.

With WordPress, you can create a project of absolutely any complexity — a landing page, a promo site with complex animations, a corporate website or a portfolio site, a small or large eCommerce project, an online school, or a media platform. Many even manage to create an MVP for a startup using the core capabilities of WordPress — I personally once participated in the development of such a project.

Ease of Setup & Management

One of WordPress’s standout features is its simplicity in setup and administration. The admin panel is intuitive — once you navigate through it, you’ll understand how to edit everything.

You have a convenient admin panel (dashboard) where you can display the necessary widgets, such as visitor or sales statistics.

The dashboard also displays general information about the number of posts, pages, and comments. Additionally, there is a site health status widget that shows the number of potential issues or errors on the site.

Set categories and tags for each post. If a category doesn’t exist, you can create it directly within the post.

This is Your Website

The most important aspect, which no website builder can boast of, is that the website fully belongs to you. The site is hosted on your own server/hosting and not on a website builder’s platform.

You can switch hosting at any time, and the site will remain with you. With WordPress sites, you don’t have to pay a monthly subscription — you only pay for hosting/server and an annual domain renewal.

Many people doubt that something truly great can be built on WordPress, but let’s look at this.

The design studio Six (madebysix.com) creates client websites using WordPress. For example, the website of Kinfolk magazine — the design is custom, but the entire system runs on WordPress. The same goes for the Edgar online store — this entire website is fully built on WordPress. Neither of these sites uses template-based solutions.

My offer

I can create a website of any complexity for you, using all the possibilities of WordPress and its plugins. In addition to website design and development, I optimize it for SEO, integrate CRM systems if needed (we can either set up a CRM specifically designed to work inside WordPress or connect an external one), and for online stores, I integrate payment and shipping modules. Plus, I provide consultation on choosing a hosting provider, migrating the website, and full support.

Why you can trust me? My experience.

I started working with websites in 2006, right when WordPress was gaining popularity. My first WordPress project was my personal blog/magazine about design and art, Peopleofdesign, which was initially built on a completely different CMS, but after a year, I moved it to WordPress, conducted SEO optimization, and now it runs perfectly.

After that, I had many clients who needed landing pages, corporate websites, showcases (product catalogs without an online order function), and online stores. I developed internal websites for Radugadesign studio and their partners. Each project had its own challenges, but I found solutions and successfully applied my knowledge to future projects.

In 2015, I launched a fashion magazine, optimized the site so that everything loaded instantly. Later, e-commerce features were added. In 2022, I launched a magazine about collaborations, Collabcollector.

In total, I have completed about 40 projects of varying complexity and continue to work.

The architectural firm DoBuro needed a new dynamic portfolio website with a proper design, fast performance, and an overall pleasant user experience.

As a result, some pages feature an asymmetric grid, while others (projects and publications) are divided into two equal sides, with information on the left side and an image on the right side.

For the firm’s needs, an internal CRM system was integrated — not only to collect contacts but also to facilitate newsletter distribution if necessary. The Gumlet service was connected for real-time image processing — optimizing images and delivering them in the required sizes.

Website builders and my opinion on them

Website builders like Webflow, Wix, Tilda, or Readymag are undoubtedly convenient and seem to offer many advantages at first glance. However, besides the monthly fees, you end up with quite limited capabilities — you cannot freely edit content, modify the site’s code for proper SEO optimization. For example, using Wix or Tilda, you will never be able to build a good online store.

WordPress vs webflow

WordPress

  • You have full control over files, code, and the server. Your rules, no limits.
  • The site can be hosted anywhere, on shared hosting or a dedicated server, depending on the requirements.
  • With custom code and plugins, the site’s functionality can be expanded infinitely.
  • SEO optimization is fully controllable. You can use the most powerful and popular SEO and caching plugins.
  • WordPress is suitable for any project, from blogs and landing pages to large e-commerce websites.

Webflow

  • Everything depends on the ecosystem—if pricing conditions change, your site is at risk.
  • The minimum plan with hosting costs $14 per month for a basic site but offers very limited features.
  • Features are restricted by the platform. To bypass these limitations, workarounds are required.
  • Access to robots.txt, sitemap.xml, and server settings is restricted, which may hinder SEO improvements.
  • Webflow is a site builder that works well for small websites (promo or landing pages), but implementing a large-scale project is unlikely.

eCommerce

You might say, «But there’s Shopify!» — yes, but the minimum plan costs $32 per month, and even then, you don’t get 100% of the functions. With WordPress + WooCommerce, you can create a huge store with 10K+ products (tested from experience), with filters, customizable cart and checkout pages. And you don’t necessarily have to buy modules — everything is available in free plugins, plus any function can be custom-developed.

Almost forgot about price

I almost forgot to mention pricing. I hope you understand that the final cost depends on your specific project, but I can give you some general guidelines.

  • The cost of designing and developing a website with 1 to 3 unique pages starts at $600.
  • The cost of developing a website using your design starts at $300.
  • The cost of designing and developing an online store starts at $2400, excluding the price of paid payment and shipping modules if required.
  • Website maintenance usually costs around $100–150 per month.

* If the website design includes paid fonts, the client covers their cost.
** A 50% upfront payment is required. Signing a contract is mandatory.

Subscription Model

There is also a subscription-based option. My services on a subscription basis cost $3200 per month, which includes website design and development, integration and setup of external modules, website migration and maintenance, and consulting. The exact scope of work is discussed individually.
